Home TRAVELING Vacation Parent's Choice for Kids Friendly Hotel in Langkawi

Family Friendly Hotel in Langkawi

If you're thinking of holidaying in Malaysia and considering for a family and kids friendly hotel in Langkawi Malaysia, then Holiday Villa Beach Resort is worth to evaluate. Located on the quiet part of Pantai Tengah a few kilometers away from the Underwater World - one of the iconic landmarks of Langkawi, both Holiday Villa and Federal Villa belong to same management, sit on the same location and share all the facilities of this wonderful beach resort. However, Federal Villa offers a greater value properties.

When we planned for our 'Cuti Cuti Malaysia' a few months ago, we reviewed almost every hotel in Langkawi, placing priorities on kids to make sure they have an ultimate fun as this the aim of our vacation. Combining two families that sum up to a group of four adults and two kids, we decided for a stay in either an apartment or a chalet. We wanted an accommodation at which it is like a home away from home.  And we found Federal Villa!

Our choice was put into the acid test when we finally landed in Langkawi. To our surprise and delight, Federal Villa turned out to be way above our expectation. Or perhaps, reading too many reviews had confused us as much as they did clarify :)

7 Reasons Federal Villa is a family friendly hotel in Langkawi – the great stuff we enjoyed:
1. An apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths attached.
Master bedroom is spacious, with a king size bed. Second bedroom is designed with 2 single beds. Every bedroom has a patio overlooking the beaches, a flat screen TV, a hairdryer (that is not working perfectly!) and a bath tub.
Huge living room that can accommodate two camping tents! Also includes dining tables and chairs, an open kitchen that comes with a sink, storage cabinet (plenty), a small fridge, mugs, glasses, small spoons and a hot water boiler.

2. Near to Langkawi Airport, it takes only 10-15 minutes drive to the resort. With kids, we didn't want to spend too much time ferrying them on the road. Instead, we wish to get them blending into nature as soon as we landed on the island.

3. Close to eateries and amenities.
To manage where to eat in Langkawi with two toddlers is rather complicated, hence we were lucky to stay within a relatively convenience locale though it is considered 'touristy' or hot spots. Many eateries of the pop-and-mom kind are available right opposite Holiday Villa. One of the high recommended eateries reviewed by fellow travelers is Cactus Cafe. We didn't get to try since it was closed for two weeks.

That's said, the room service of Holiday Villa/Federal Villa is 24 hours. Get their menu ready and contact room service for meals around the clock!

4. Idyllic, clean and not too crowded beaches.
Unlike most public beaches in Langkawi, the strip of sandy beach in this resort is very well-maintained and thrash-free. We are comfortable to go bare-footed, running and playing on the sand. The lawn is pretty, well-manicured and our kids love it! Sun beds are abundance and in good condition.

5. Swimming pools
This property does offer two outdoor swimming pools - a super size adult swimming pool with swim through bar.

Adjacent is a reasonable size baby pool with a depth of 0.36 m (picture below). There is an indoor swimming pool but only for ladies behind the reception area.

6. Breakfast for RM38 nett.
Constituted of continental and oriental food, the buffer breakfast is offered with free flow of coffee, tea, and flavored juices. Breads and buns plus toaster await you to DIY (self-service). Egg corner offers all of kind omelet variety asides from the standard hard-boiled egg and half-boiled eggs. Salad, fruits, cereals, porridge and dishes are the standard. The choices are not much but not too little either, good for convenience sake or when you're ready to eat a horse. Children below 2 yo eat for free.

7. De-centralized air-conditioning
Sounds perfect that it is all up to you to control the temperature for each room in your apartment.

Nothing is perfect in this world since there are two sides of the coin, hence 4 reasons for improvement:
1. The Wi-fi of this hotel in Langkawi is extremely expensive i.e. RM8/hour. In case you need to use it, hurry over to the restaurants opposite the road e.g. El Nino Steak House, Red Tomato, Chocolatine for free Wi-Fi. Extremely puzzling, why a four-star resort can’t afford such a simple feature?

2. No complimentary beverages i.e. coffee/tea bags in rental property.
We knew this is not in the package, thus we flew in our 3-in-1 coffee. Make sure you too. Or grab a bag of coffee from the duty free shops if you need a dose daily.

3. The apartment has a kitchen, alas only for display. It would be greater if it is a full kitchenette. Or at minimal equips with a microwave and some bowls/plates/eating utensils.

4. The apartment is clean without traces of sand or dirt on the floor. But a thicker and stain-free carpet would certainly makes it more appealing!

Despite the minor down points, all of us are very happy with our stay at Federal Villa's apartment. Though it is not the best hotel in Langkawi Malaysia neither a budget hotel in Langkawi island, this resort has many good reasons that deserving us to be back. If we were to search for a hotel in Langkawi again, we would never hesitate to pick Room 387 at Federal Villa for second time! Great view of beach front, huge lawn, clean strip of sugar sand and it is merely steps away from outdoor swimming pools!
