When it comes to things to do with kids in Shah Alam, the endless stories of beautiful and colorful digital lights are the hot topics in town. Home to the striking LED lights in the evening and night, I-City neighborhood with all variety of Jalan Plumbum series that sits adjacent to UiTM Shah Alam campus isthe best place in Malaysia for an enchanted forest of man-made maple, sunflowers and pine trees! Brightly illuminated, the light-scape is indeed mesmerizing coupled with open air rides such as the classical ferris wheel, adventurous pirate ship, above-the-ground train ride overlooking the illuminated forest.

If you're up for the digital light, the admission is FREE. Parking is however not, around RM10 for 1 to 3hours. For shoes string parents, make sure your kids are going to visit with full tummies. Chain restaurant varieties, food choices are limited, observed availability are Subway, Ipoh White Coffee, KFC and Kenny Rogers. And, these eateries are perpetual occupied, hardly seen any table that was empty and clean! On the dot at 7 pm, this City of Light comes alive so plan your journey. Traveling from the heart of Kuala Lumpur, we departed around half past six, hence parking business was brief and a piece of cake. Queue was short and unoccupied spots were aplenty.

Depending on your budget and house rule, if your plan is for the light show and only, you practically don't have to spend a single cent. Begin from Red Carpet building, stroll passing Itsy Bitsy garden when young kids may get amazed with artificial grassland and slides. Get across the train ride and bumper car, as one may also explore the pre-historic zone seeing the man-made dinosaurs amidst the lit-up jungle next to ferris wheel.

As the night fall, the colorful pines and sunflowers are calling. Take a slow and cautious walk into this zone. Atop of this area, there is a mechanical train rail. Ground is earthy kind, it is however not stroller or wheel-friendly. Uneven, sandy at some spots, with odd shapes, sharp concrete at others, we also stepped on stones and unfinished working area that could be muddy and not people friendly during raining season.

Apart from the free things to do with kids at I-City Shah Alam, WaterWorld, Trick Museum, Snowalk and Red Carpet are the paid-admission theme zones within the same vicinity.
