Home TRAVELING Vacation Travel To Bali With Kids | Things To Do & Places To Visit

Bali, is certainly a holiday destination in Indonesia that really needs no further introduction. Yet, this tropical island that emerges between Asia and Australia continents is a total stranger to three of us. The first time to Indonesia, also our maiden voyage to Bali! For Austin, this trip was his second country abroad though it was the sixth country (after USA, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore) if I were to include traveling while-in-the-womb.
Travel to Bali with children demands different kind of planning versus the brief and simpler adults only trip. Big kids can perhaps tolerate anything that come to them but not young kids. Not that we over pamper the kids, but it is uninteresting to drag a sick child during a vacation. If you wish to find out some ugly truths of Bali, read and research to find out more on Bali for kids.
To prepare Austin for Bali trip, we spoke to him a week ahead. Every evening, we described about the travel to Bali, the plane ride, the beaches and of course the fun! This trick seemed to work, we really had a cooperative kid for the whole journey. Though Austin was pretty excited over the plane's window, he napped as soon as the plane took off. All we did was telling him, "You may take a nap if you wish!". And indeed we had a peaceful journey to and fro.

With internet, searching for things to do in Bali and places to visit with kids is as simple as ABC. Honestly, Bali has a character all of its own, hence one has to prioritize the list of tourist attractions. Traveling with Austin, we had to juggle a balance so that our 5 days itinerary neither that cramped nor too idled.

Day 1 - PEN to KUL to DPS. Checked into a family suite at Casa Padma Legian.

Day 2 - We made a loop on the north east of Bali, from Legian to Sanur then Gunung Kawi, Penelokan, Ubud and back to Legian. Abundance of attractions i.e. Gunung Kawi Temple, Kintamani Lake Batur Volcano Caldera, Bali Pudina Kopi Luwak, Tegallalang Rice Terrace, Ubud Arts Market.

Day 3 - Land cruising from Legian to Tanah Lot Temple then going south to Uluwatu Temple, Padang Padang Beach and wrapped up with a sunset seafood dinner at Jimbaran Beach.

Day 4 - Enjoying sun, sea, waves, beach and sand at Kuta & Legian Beach.
A walk in the city at night.

Day 5 - Exploring Padma Beach at the end of Jalan Padma.
           DPS to KUL.

Our holiday didn't end here, we spent a few nights in KL before returning home with a heap of children’s picture books!
